LadyBug Lamp!

My sister is expecting a baby girl in October. We are so excited for a new family member! And I'M very excited to help her decorate the baby's room! She has chosen a ladybug theme for the room. Very cute! And so many possibilities. We have a weekend planned for the end of August where we'll do an "extreme bedroom makeover." A bunch of friends and family members are going to go over, clean, paint and go crazy with the lady bug theme. So in anticipation of that weekend I've started my ladybug crafting.

Lately, of course, I have lady bugs on the brain as I thrift shop. So when I saw this lamp I knew it could be something quick, easy and cute! I got this $3 lamp base on the 1/2 off shelf and then I bought a $3 shade at Big Lots....

I spray painted the lamp base black and painted the shade barn red.

I thought it would be cute to put lady bug spots on the shade but I wasn't exactly sure how I'd get nice circles on it. So after so brainstorming I discovered the best method was to dip a shot glass into black paint and "stamp" circles onto the shade.

And then I filled in the circles with a small, round sponge brush.

Almost there! Just needs some trim around the shade...

And it's done!

For now it's in my daughter's room for us to admire while it waits for a home in a cute, girly ladybug room!

This post is actually the first time my sister will see this lamp. Here's hoping she likes it as much as I do!

Happy Friday!
