I was intrigued. I had to try it! I followed the tutorial and I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Plus it was super easy!
Some tips if you're gonna try this too:
The straw wreath is about $3 cheaper than a Styrofoam one and you're just going to wrap it in duct tape anyway. I left the plastic on as well so I didn't have to deal with all the little straw bits making a mess.
I used a large dinner plate and a white sewing pencil to trace a circle onto my taped wreath so I'd have a guide for my first row of candy. And that row served as a guide for the other rows. Worked pretty well!
Make sure you give it lots of coats of protective spray since humidity can do bad things to candy corn!!
I used two bags of candy and it only took me a little over an hour to complete this. Which was good because I was prepared for an all-nighter of gluing candy. But I still had plenty of time for some Lifetime and hot chocolate!
Now I just have to deal with a 4 year old that 's going to want to eat the wreath when he sees it!
Happy Halloween!

I love everything candycorn!! You did an awesome job!!
ReplyDeleteSweet. Hope the ants don't reach them.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist either so I made mine and... well... apparently this is not a front door wreath for Florida. Mine melted all over the front door. :(
